Each year, Cedars Sinai sees more new patients with lung cancer than any other program in California. The expert team at the Women's Guild Lung Institute at Cedars-Sinai has pioneered minimally invasive surgical techniques for lung cancer. This team has the largest experience in the world with video-assisted thoracic surgical (VATS) lobectomy.
Surgeons from the United States and the world visit daily to learn these techniques. The section has a training program for surgeons after completion of a cardiothoracic residency.
An active research program in lung cancer and surgical techniques has led to many publications and presentations nationally and internationally. The section also regularly holds educational programs for the community.
