Priority #1 is Preventing Transmission Across the country, including here in Los Angeles, hospitals and nursing homes are dealing with challenges from multi-drug-resistant organisms (MDRO's), including Acinetobacter baumannii.
 Acinetobacter Baumannii (pictured at right) is resistant to many commonly prescribed antibiotics and can survive on the skin for several days. Cedars-Sinai, too, is observing an increase in critically ill patients who have MDR-AB. Preventing transmission of these antibiotic-resistant organisms to non-infected patients is a high priority for the medical staff and the medical center. Steps being taken include:
