The Department of Surgery's specialties are consistently ranked among the top clinical units in the region and country by U.S. News and World Reports and the University Hospitals Consortium (UCH) rankings.
Technological developments, many developed at Cedar-Sinai, benefit our clinical programs. Robotic surgery is now used routinely in cardiac surgery, general surgery and urological surgery. Minimally invasive procedures are used in virtually every surgical discipline with particular leadership roles in bariatric and foregut surgery and donor nephrectomies. Our solid organ transplantation efforts have reported exemplary outcomes in heart, lung and liver transplants, living related renal grafts and renal transplants in pre-sensitized recipients.
As noted on these pages, Cedars-Sinai is committed to maintaining our leadership position across all surgical disciplines through recruitment of outstanding nationally recognized physicians and other investments in our clinical programs. As added value, such high quality and robust clinical activity provides the opportunity for trainees to develop their skills while working alongside some of the nation's finest surgeons.
